History

Unison Health has been helping people since the 1970s. It started with two community centers: the Ruth S. Ide Center, which opened in 1972 to support people with severe mental illness; and the East Center for Community Mental Health, which opened in 1974 to provide outpatient care for children, teens, and adults.

These centers led the way in bringing community mental health care to Toledo. In 1995, they merged to form Unison Health, expanding services and reaching more people.

Today, Unison Health continues to provide care and support across Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Putnam, Sandusky, Seneca, Williams, and Wood counties.
